Jig Head OEM: What Buyers Should Confirm Before Mold or Sampling
Jig head OEM projects look simple at first, but they include many specification decisions. Head shape, hook model, eyelet, keeper, blade, weed guard, weight, coating and packaging all influence price and production route. A buyer who prepares these details early can get a more realistic quotation and avoid repeated sample revisions.
Head shape and mold route
If the project uses an existing head shape, quotation and sample work can move faster. If the buyer wants a new shape, new cavity or exclusive design, tooling cost and mold sample approval may be required. Before starting a new mold, review whether the expected quantity can support the tooling investment.
Hook selection
The hook is one of the most important cost and performance factors. Buyers should confirm hook size, wire strength, finish, eye type and brand expectation if required. A head designed for one hook may not fit another hook perfectly, so hook choice should be confirmed before tooling or bulk production.
Weight and tolerance
Jig head weight should match the label and intended fishing application. Smaller weights may require tighter control. Discuss acceptable tolerance before production, especially when the product will be sold in retail packs.
Coating, eyes and accessories
Powder coating, painting, epoxy, 3D eyes, blades, skirts and weed guards can all change cost and production time. Color matching should be confirmed by physical sample whenever possible.
Packaging
Jig heads can be bulk packed or packed in retail bags, blister cards or header card packs. Hook protection matters. If hooks are sharp and exposed, packaging must prevent damage to other products and carton contents.
QC checklist
- Hook alignment and eyelet position.
- Weight tolerance and head shape consistency.
- Coating coverage and burr removal.
- Eye, blade, skirt or keeper assembly.
- Pack count, label and carton mark accuracy.
